Chuck Close; Inspiration is for amatuers

I'm keeping this short because Chuck Close has told me to get off the computer and get to work.  But I have to share this link for his words of wisdom, and yes, inspiration.

  1. Hi Kevin,
I'm glad I saw this post of yours. Mr. Close's letter to self is interesting and well worth the watch! Thanks! Now, I think I'll show up to my drawing table :)

    1. While I can't take full responsibility for finding this (it appeared in Underpaintings blog I believe), if I see something that might interest others I enjoy posting it in the hopes that it inspires someone. I'm glad this did the same for you that it did for me.
It just resonates with me. Just start doing something. Things will naturally happen.

  2. Hi Kevin,
Great post. It will inspire many more folks than you will probably ever know about.
Since last we met, the condo is being sold and we're hoping the new owners will take pity on us and let us out of our lease. Either pity us or be in a hurry to move-in! Either way, we would become residents of Hawaii as early as February instead of April. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for us! What a wonderful Christmas present that would be!
Take care, don't work too hard and have a nice holiday.
    Sincerely,
    Gary

    1. Thanks for the update Gary. This gives me a reason to plan a trip to the islands to visit. Yes, I just invited myself, but don't worry. I procrastinate even with vacations. Expect me in late March. (ha ha).

  3. Um, Kevin, I'm just catching up here and I see where you already invited yourself to Gary's when they move to Hawaii - but you'll have to stand in line because I think I invited myself first! ha ha Maybe we could all gather at the same time and talk art and enjoy the Hawaiian weather and Gary and Michele's hospitality at the same time! ha ha Now that would be fun!
Now off to the art room to do something - anything. The time I spend apologizing for not doing any artful is time I could spend doing something artful!!
